چکیده
The submarine volcano 8.10, part of the South Iturup group underwater volcanoes Kuril island arc (KIA), was studied using a proven technology quantitative interpretation hydromagnetic survey materials in combination with echo sounding, continuous seismoacoustic profiling, and analysis petromagnetic properties chemical composition dredged rocks. makes it possible to interpret directly from original data without resorting procedure their preliminary restoration nodes regular network. As result performed studies, established that andesite-basalts andesites are representatives different lava flows have single magmatic source, but differing conditions dynamics crystallization. main carrier natural residual magnetization basaltic is titanomagnetite low Ti content, for magnetite. In volcanic edifice, supply channels peripheral magma chambers distinguished. Volcano as well other KIA studied, formed during geomagnetic inversions. presence hydroacoustic anomalies at top indicates manifestations gas-hydrothermal activity southern more significant than thought until recently.

متن کاملNew insights into hydrothermal vent processes in the unique shallow-submarine arc-volcano, Kolumbo (Santorini), Greece
We report on integrated geomorphological, mineralogical, geochemical and biological investigations of the hydrothermal vent field located on the floor of the density-stratified acidic (pH ~ 5) crater of the Kolumbo shallow-submarine arc-volcano, near Santorini. Kolumbo features rare geodynamic setting at convergent boundaries, where arc-volcanism and seafloor hydrothermal activity are occurring...
متن کاملEvolution of a Submarine Magmatic-Hydrothermal System: Brothers Volcano, Southern Kermadec Arc, New Zealand
Brothers volcano, which is part of the active Kermadec arc, northeast of New Zealand, forms an elongate edifice 13 km long by 8 km across that strikes northwest-southeast. The volcano has a caldera with a basal diameter of ~3 km and a floor at 1,850 m below sea level, surrounded by 290to 530-m-high walls. A volcanic cone of dacite rises 350 m from the caldera floor and partially coalesces with ...
متن کاملA distinct source and differentiation history for Kolumbo submarine volcano, Santorini volcanic field, Aegean arc
This study reports the first detailed geochemical characterization of Kolumbo submarine volcano in order to investigate the role of source heterogeneity in controlling geochemical variability within the Santorini volcanic field in the central Aegean arc. Kolumbo, situated 15 km to the northeast of Santorini, last erupted in 1650 AD and is thus closely associated with the Santorini volcanic syst...
متن کاملThe submarine volcano eruption at the island of El Hierro: physical-chemical perturbation and biological response
On October 10 2011 an underwater eruption gave rise to a novel shallow submarine volcano south of the island of El Hierro, Canary Islands, Spain. During the eruption large quantities of mantle-derived gases, solutes and heat were released into the surrounding waters. In order to monitor the impact of the eruption on the marine ecosystem, periodic multidisciplinary cruises were carried out. Here...
